October Council Meeting

So, you asked, and we listened! During check-in time at our September meeting, a parent leader brought up concerns about inconsistencies in the after-school programs at our schools. School Board Director Ty Alper, our PTA Council representative from the BUSD Board of Education, made a note of it and introduced us to Aaron Jorgensen, BUSD's new Program Supervisor of Extended Learning. Aaron, in turn, has graciously agreed to come to our meeting to have a conversation with school leaders. Thank you, Ty and Aaron!

In addition, we will have an update on district Cooking and Gardening programs with Jezra Thompson, as well as a brief presentation on Climate Change Education from PTA leader and Green/Sustainability leader Susan Silber.

And as always, we will have a chance to introduce ourselves, and share what’s going on at your school site. We are here to collaborate and support each other, and we appreciate how much time and heart it takes to be a PTA leader.

Council Meeting Dates for 2015-2016: Meetings will take place on the fourth Monday of each month. Here is a list of the dates, so that you can mark your calendars: October 26th, November 23rd, (No December meeting), January 25th, February 22nd, March 21st (3rd Monday - Spring Break), April 25th, and May 23rd, (June - no meeting).

All meetings take place at 2020 Bonar Street, in the district technology offices, and run from 6:30- 8 p.m. We always serve pizza and drinks. We have some awesome topics to discuss, so please be sure to send a parent who can participate in our discussions.
