Berkeley PTA Council Meeting - May 24
Zoom sent to list
6:30 - President’s introduction. Although this is the last scheduled meeting of the school year, I will propose that we have one more meeting in June, preferably Monday June 14. Discussion and vote.
6:35 - Street safety measures. The May 11 car crash outside of Cragmont Elementary, which killed two adults, has brought renewed attention to the need for the City to refresh school sidewalk markings and other street markings and signage before each new school year. School Board member Ana Vasudeo will speak to us about the School District’s dialogue with the City on this issue, and will lead a discussion about what should be done. Attached to this email is a flyer for a community event May 26.
6:50 - Reopening. Are we on track for full reopening in the fall? What’s lacking? What should PTAs be doing about their budgets, fundraising, and afterschool enrichment?
7:15 - Presentation of candidates for PTA Council President, Treasurer, and Secretary for school years 2021-22 and 2022-23. Three candidates have offered to serve in these positions: Tse-Sung Wu for president, Olivia Lim for Treasurer, and Scott Hofmeister for Secretary. Their short bios are at bottom of this email. Other candidates can present themselves prior to or at the meeting. Discussion and vote.
7:55: PTA Council email list guidelines. Scott Hofmeister has been leading the work to revise our guidelines, and we discussed this at our April meeting. The Executive Board believes this revised version is ready for approval. Discussion and vote. See the latest draft:
